How to Write a Tone in Mandarin

There are a variety of ways to write tones in Mandarin, especially if you're using a Roman orthography. The most common way is just using accent marks or diacritics on the vowels. But there have been some other fond proposals over the years as well. I am particularly fond of a proposal called guayo-romads that's based on what if we spelled each tone differently using Roman letters?
