Xerxes and the Battle of Salinas

Xerxes leaves behind a remnant of forces they still think they're going to win this the assumption is that i'm going to leave behind my general mardonius and mardonius will clean up this mess. Greece is a footnote to those of us in the west it's the biggest thing about Persia but Xerxes looked at this as kind of a footnote like eh we still mostly won. The process of ostracism was not permanent so if you think back over the last 20 years of history there at any given time is usually one lady or one dude where you're like look i don't want anybody to get hurt  but if we could without violence just make this person go away
