Fred Brooks and Ken Iverson were very close. Without them we wouldn't be here. He said that the decision or design that he was most proud of was introducing the 8-bit bite. The system 360 design became the precursor for all modern computing. All other types of architectures just disappeared after that. It's very sad to see these pioneers passing away but that's what happens when you have a language that's been around so long.
