Galileo and the Leaning Tower of Pisa
Galileo, it is said, devised a very public experiment to both wow his students and shame those colleagues who stubbornly clung to their Aristotle. He climbed to the top of Pisa's most iconic structure, the beloved Leaning Tower of Pisa,. Once at the top of the tower, he produced two large iron balls. One of the balls was noticeably larger and heavier than the other. If Aristotle was right, then the larger object should hit the ground quite a lot sooner than the smaller and lighter object.
