The typical, you know, largest expenses for a PhD student are housing, transportation and food. I personally am inclined towards the decreasing expenses side of the equation which is a little bit dangerous because you can only decrease your expenses so far,. Realistically, they can only go down so far. But if you can manage to do it, it literally pays off every single month with reduced expenses without you having to exert any willpower or effort to maintain that reduction.
