House Bill 2697 Would Require Hospitals to Follow Minimum Staffing Standards for Nursing Professionals
Oregon state lawmakers are considering a bill that would require hospitals to follow minimum staffing standards for nursing professionals. If House Bill 2697 passes, it would make Oregon one of the first states in the country to implement nurse-to-patient ratios in hospitals and health systems. A 2019 Kaiser Family Foundation poll of individuals identifying as either Democratic, Republican, or independent found that a majority of respondents supported the preventive care provision.
