How to Start an Industry With a PhD
Before doing a PhD, I only had a biology major and a couple of computer science math classes under my belt. Getting into a PhD program was probably my only way to do anything more than become a lab tech or retrain for something else than biology. The other thing I could have done was to do a master's in computer science or something. But you have to pay for a master's, and the PhD is free. So that's like a pretty big difference.
