Dan Finkel: We give students a mathematical mis-education when we give them an experience of mathematics that is just dead facts and appeals to the teacher's authority. Dr. Chang cooked up a plan to make digits more digestible and trigonometry more tasty. And it was as easy as, yes, we're going there, how to bake pie. That's pie as in the ratio of a circumference to the diameter 3.141592.
