The Importance of Oman in the Gulf Cooperation Council

Many people in the Gulf had never been to Oman and they still thought of it as this backward place. I was told years ago that a colloquial weighty term for gardener was Omani. Now, I don't think that there's any sentiment towards reconstructing any semblance of that Omani Empire. In foreign policy, Sultan Khaboos established a policy of neutrality but more one of keeping open relations with everybody.
