The Gene Drive Solution to Malaria
There are something like 4,000 species of mosquito and we're not worried about 3,960 of them because they do not transmit malaria. We have an opportunity there of adjusting the gene and there are many ways that that could be done. I believe that that sort of work is 7 to 10 years away from the next major step forward in coming up with a practical solution for malaria.
