Problem solving is a fundamental component of mathematical development all the way through. Teachers should engage with recreational mathematics, even if that just means doing Sudoku in the paper or reading one of Alex Bayos' books and trying to solve the problems in there. I think it speaks to the empathy that you can show because you've been through the struggle and I think I can extol the stuff. So those are two things he would say and involves teachers doing more maths.
