How Did the White Sox Land on Andrew Ben and Tendi?

Andrew Ben and Tendi is the White Sox largest off-season addition not in terms of his stature but in terms of the size and length of his contract. How did they settle on Ben andTendi as their guy because it's not that he had a bad season last year you know at least at the plate he had his highest WRC plus since that really great 2018 campaign with Boston. The defense seems like it's slipping and there's never been a ton of power but he does get on base at a good clip He got more money than I anticipated him getting and not just because everyone seemed to get moremoney than I anticipated them getting in this off-season so how'd they land
