The Ideology of Evil

I think Solzhenitsyn is absolutely brilliant and indispensable when he writes about the way in which ideology intensifies evil and violence. The best self-justifications were feeble and its conscience devoured him. Even Iago was a little lamb, too. Thanks to ideology, the 20th century was faded to experience villainy on a scale calculated in the millions. There's this tremendous amplification of violence and terror made possible by the ideological justification of tyranny.
