Facebook Is Great for Opposing Authoritarianism

Facebook was trying to see how many people would give up using the site if it crashed on purpose. Mark Zuckerberg's company has been experimenting with its feed and algorithm, which can have a global effect. If Facebook doesn't like a political candidate and tweaks a few lines of code so that its algorithm slightly suppresses positive stories about that candidate, for example, you'd never know this happened. But it would have a global impact.
