The History of the French Revolution

The origins of the jacobins were as what was known as the breton club that organized during the states general at versailles. They were a key group both in establishing the national assembly as the sovereign legislature and pushing for the abolition of feudalism after the night of august fourth, 17 89. The only rule was that each town, ther large or small, could only have one jacobin affiliate so that there wouldn't be different, competing local factions. And over the following few years, this became the most powerful and largest organization outside of the government itself.
