The Assyrian King's Depression
The assyrian king Esahadon was suffering from one of the first recorded cases of depression. He would often spend days in his sleeping quarters without food, drink or human contact. His royal physicians could do nothing to help him and wrote despondently back to him. Letters preserved from essarhadon's royal court describe his condition in some detail.
