I think the big blind spot was in underestimating the human element that there were people who were very far-sighted with regard to where technology is going. When it came to realizing that individual users would actually have a great deal of control over the shaping of the algorithms and filters companies would some sent me beholden to that data. I do think we're asking the wrong question in saying well how can we just stamp out this or that because it turns into a game of whack-a-mole. Even if tech companies say we're working on it we have to accept that it's actually not going to happen any fixes are going to be a lot more broad and a lot less targeted
