Is There a Source Point for Authoritarian Software?
There is a broader global struggle underway between democracy as a system of governance and authoritarianism. China has built this very sophisticated surveillance system at home, where they have increasing network of surveillance. And we've already seen countries in Southeast Asia, South America and Africa using Chinese surveillance technology for domestic surveillance. So I think it's deeply troubling not just for the human rights of Chinese citizens, but also for the concern that that model becomes replicated globally.
