Jonathan Swift's Sermon on the Futility of Seeking Wisdom in the World
Jonathan Swift said in a sermon that if you're looking to philosophers for advice, you're not really doing what a Christian is supposed to do. He's trying to point out the futility of seeking all of these answers about life from someplace that isn't the Bible. In his book, Reasons Not to Abolish Christianity, he says atheists don't need to do away with the church.
