The Alternative to Empathy
In some sense, much of what you say is just obviously true, right? I mean, clearly, we are more empathetic for people who are like ourselves and therefore that causes trouble. But when we rid ourselves of making decisions based on empathic pull, it leads to changes in our moral judgments that I think everybody would agree are better. And again, this might end up being one of those things where in fact we're in complete agreement, but are just choosing to emphasize different things.
