The Trauma Informed Approach

As time has gone on, this model has become gradually more medical and biological with the other intersecting factors being minimized. The trauma informed model is an approach to understanding mental distress and mental health that considers that a change in behavior, thought or emotion arises from past or current trauma. Within this context, trauma can be variable and dynamic. It's now accepted that it encompasses any set of event or events that cause deep distress disturbance, fear, harm or injury.
