Donald Trump became the first former U.S. President to be indicted on Thursday. A Manhattan grand jury decided there was enough evidence to go ahead with a criminal case against him for directing hush money payments to a porn star during his 2016 campaign. The charges are under seal, but it appears the case will be based on a novel legal theory involving elevating the misdemeanor of falsifying business records to a felony.
