The Pro-Choice Movement Was a Good Way to Include Black and Hispanic Women

Black and Puerto Rican women comprised about 80% of the deaths from illegal abortions in the years before abortion was criminalized. For these women like black and Hispanic women indigenous women abortion was less a demonstration of women's emancipation because for them they had been associating it with sterilization forced sterilization with forced abortions. Now additionally and this is one of those points that are often co-opted by people who don't like bodily autonomy where David suggests that access to birth control meant white women would have fewer kids. There was a sudden fear that white women would be replaced or white people would be replaced because they wouldn't be the majority anymore which is obviously unfounded but reflects a fundamental misunderstanding of what it means
