Sculpture of Mary McCloud Bethun

The city of florida has commissioned a sculpture of mary mc cloud bethun, which will one day stand in statuary hall. Bethun was an african american woman who was born in south carolina ten years after the civil war. She walked 24 miles every day and became the only of her parents 17 children to get an education. May her presence infuriate the marble confederates.
