The Day for the Lord and the Day of the Lord Are Separate Things

After the battle of Armageddon, we're told that it takes seven months to bury the dead. What is everybody doing in those seven months? I thought Christ comes back and then the Millennial Kingdom starts. It's just an inconsistency. The language that's being used is just, is maybe over the top language where the idea of an army being wiped out and then taking 7 months to bury tells us how large that army was.
