Wings split up in 7980 after McCartney gets busted for trying to sneak weed in old marijuana into Japan. In the interim period, as you can see by your host shirt here, he records McCartney too on his own. He releases that in 1980 and this spurred him on to become a solo act. And from 1982's tug of war, we have what is known as the modern McCartney album. An entire mixture of everything - rock songs, pop songs, baroque, classical tunes, weird country tunes.
