The Differences Between the Principles First Approach and the Ontological Approach
The primary benefit is engaging with actors who are themselves in morally interesting or morally difficult situations. We might sort of gain a bit of understanding of our social world through doing this kind of work. And it might lead us to change our prescriptions or our evaluations in light of these various kinds of new information. But at least insofar as one is interested in developing normative principles, then I think what's probably primarily different about the outputs is that they're more specific and less generalizable.
