Don't Be a Sucker and Be Fooled

Turn off the news and read more biographies. Don't be fooled by media bias, it's still a cognitive bias that we can succumb to. I literally have to programme my brain every day - don't forget the mental short cuts. You will always jump at a hor movie. Your programme wouldn't want your fight or flight response turned off. It would be deadly from an evolutionary standpoint right? So that's the first and most important thing: Control what you're reading.
