How to Send Water Waves Thru Barriers

The experiment involved sending water waves with two dippers, or a dipper. And what would happen is there was a light, ther was a strol blight on top, and there was a camera that was situated on the screen,. So from there, you can kind of deduce properties about the wave itself. But i'm saying it was transparent as it was also a black and white image so i don't know if that really changed much.
