Is There a Need for a Society to Function?

A lot of the stuff that we like, o need a need for aa society to function. If you're a police sir, gunning down a man in cold blood might be kind of like your day job. A very significant amount of total labor time spent is stuff that isn't necessary and doesn't do anything. So this applies not just to capitalism but also to state-based socialism.
