The Evolution of Work With Hands in the 20th Century
There's a shift away from thinking all the time about immigrationism in the 19th century to other ways of thinking about Africa. One thing about Booker T that I find interesting is that he simultaneously accepts the permanence and inevitability of racism. And also has a positive strategy for racial uplift that doesn't involve going to Africa. The 20th century was interested with where do black people fit within the larger schemes of not only the United States society but the world, there was a renewed focus on what have black people produced.
