It can be helpful to get a post void residual immediately after they've attempted to urinate and know that in men greater than 100 mLs is abnormally high. You can also extend your ultrasound up and look at the kidneys. And that should show bilateral hydro nephrosis because in BPH obstruction, it's from the lower urinary tract.
