I was taught that India had a great past. This was, you know, the knowledge my parents shared with me. And I thought if India was a great civilization, then other civilizations must have written something about India. So I decided to go through the Greek literature, Egyptian literature, European literature, and the Middle Eastern literature. Then I realized why Alexander the Great took this arduous journey to India,. You know, or why Columbus wanted to come to India. Or why Vasco Di Gama wanted tocome to India. That's how I wrote that book.
