What Are the Strengths and Weaknesses of the Integrity Commission?
New south wales ica has been around since the late eighties and done some fantastic work in exposing corruption. It's a body that has public hearings available for law enforcement bodies like the australian federal police, but not for m p nor senior bureaucrats. And under the government's proposed draft model, we don't have tax payers money at risk of being used to win seats through pork barrelling. We need to understand if it's systemic, therefore, it must have powers of retrospectivity. The only thing that's unfair is that our federal parliament doesn't have an integrity commissio.
