The Benefits of Superweapons
An O'Neill cylinder would generally mass several gigatons and would come crashing down with more than its TNT equivalent. A ton of matter falling from Earth's orbit at about 8 kilometers per second will have more like 32 which is 8 times as much. Relativistic kill missiles are the ultimate in raw kinetic brute force. Large missiles with simple guidance packages launched for a fall that need no explosive warhead not even a nuclear anti-matter because their raw kinetic energy already exceeds what a bomb, fission, fusion or anti-matter would hold.
