The Impetus for Designing Ascent as a Timber Building
The timber components in ascent and in most of these types of buildings basically come in two flavors. One is cross-laminated timber, which is layers of dimensional lumber laminated on top of each other so they develop strength in two directions. The other timber components that we see are used for columns and beams,. And those are typically timber sections that are laminated together in one direction.
