Reddit decided to make its communities dark or private in a show of solidarity with third party apps. The moderators thought that if they made popular channels private, users wouldn't flock and advertisers would disappear. But at the moment, it doesn't seem like Reddit is going to play ball. And there might just be another reason why Reddit believes it should wait out this ruckus.
