The defence tried to depict marie as a loving mother who went above and beyond for her family. In doing so, they painted frank and carol in a negative light with the atter described as unruly and rebellious. Marie admitted to injecting carol with medicine, but maintained it was under doctor's orders. But there were no records from any of carol's doctors to prove this.
