The Stock Market in the Late 1920s

From 1920 until early 1929, the markets saw almost constant gains. The Federal Reserve would lend money to banks at 5%. These banks could then loan that money out to individuals and businesses for the purpose of stock market investment at rates as high as 12%. This had the effect of making the entire structure of the speculation boom incredibly brittle.
