The Importance of Reading the Bible Symbolically, Metaphorically and Spiritually

I don't believe the Bible gives us rules for how God wants us to live today. It's a reaction to how scientific discoveries began impacting biblical interpretation in the modern period, especially in the early 20th century. When we aren't aware of what we're doing, we might be causing hurt and confusion to people who don't understand the shorthand. And it can often feel like they're on the outside of the community without even knowing why.
