LZ Granderson: Wetlands are the parts of our nation's waters that are closely tied up in the soil underneath. He says they're important buffers for pollution and sediment, prevent it from entering waterways. LZ: wetlands also maintain water flow as climate change is changing weather patterns. "If you want to have a healthy ecosystem, you need to have these wetlands be healthy," he says.
