How to Grow Autonomy in the Classroom

In the UK, there's a lot of chat about the GCSE oral exams. I remember that from school as well. What I really like to do is give students the opportunity to invent and create their own story. And they too, and they often sit there in their oral exam laughing and giggling  in the middle of a high pressure oral exam. That doesn't motivate anybody. But if you have an assessment for oral exams that is potentially gives them some creativity and allows their curiosity to be grown. There's just some ways to get some autonomy into your assessments.
