The Chernobyl Disaster
In 1986, the number four RBN-K reactor at the nuclear power plant in Chernobyl exploded. The resulting disaster spread radiation across Europe and displaced hundreds of thousands of people. Val Vostchefska talks about her life growing up in Ukraine during that time. She also explains how Moscow made an effort to not tell people what was happening in the first couple of days of the disaster.
