He says he was astonished at how welcoming Sinn Fein leaders were, even though British had effectively sealed them off. The trip turned into a role as an unofficial go-between between Clinton's White House and the Irish Republican movement. "There was hope and definite opportunity for Clinton to intervene," said Obeidalla.
