There seems to be a lot of uncertainty as to how often the law against impiety was used, depending on whom you read. One tradition lines up a whole range of athenian or greek greates that were supposedly tried and or convicted. Others argue that the evidence for these trials is weak, and that they serve to sort of embellish the reputation of these thinkers and philosophers later on. What's your verdict?
