The Relationship Between Rome and the Hellenistic World
The relationship between Rome and Syracuse was a mutually beneficial one. After early hostilities, terms were drawn up between both parties in 263. For nearly five decades, Hero remained a loyal ally of the Republic. The pair coordinated military actions and support against the Carthaginians. In brief, the successor kingdoms took little to no interest in the Republic.
