The Argument of Matthew Tindall

Matthew Tindall wanted to say that since we judge whether or not something is a revelation by certain characteristics it must have, therefore we can go inside the revelation and judge independently of each doctrine taught by it. He says that this is an unreasonable way of arguing. Edwards constantly operated upon the supposition that there are some general propositions the truth of which can be known only by reason from which an infinite multitude of other propositions are inferred. Revelation for Edwards is a separate source from which reason may derive information.
