X Fi, and the Sort of Investigations That Are Done by Experimental Philosophers

i think the real distinction is not so much a x fi versus empirical psychology. It's rather whether you are doing something like survey research, or whether youare doing investigations of some kind that try to get at the causation of a people's causal judgments. Surveys just by the way in which they'r design are not going to tell you much of anything about the underlying processes that generate the judgment. You could just ask peopleh ok, here's your judgment. How did you reach the judgment? But i think we have lots of evidence that that's just not a very reliable way of figuring out what it is that's a a causing their judgments.
