The first inaugural compact lecture in New York City was delivered by the political economist Michael Lynn just about a week ago around this time. He made the point that AAPI was a category invented by Nixon administration, Office of Management and Budget staffers. And so it's a 1970s construct that's been naturalized, such that you now see on HBO Max like AAPI film.
