The Multi-Layer Concept in Splunky

Multi-layer concept seems seep into every aspect of spunky too the secrets have multiple layers and the items typically have multiple uses and layers curious what everyone's take is on this concept. I think it just totally blows my mind that Derek was able to like recognize that right from the start and be able to say like this is like the tool that if we add this literal layer to the game it will integrate with everything else about spelunky.
